Feasting At Blue Dragon Cafe
Spoiled For Choice
Some of us dread having to choose between too many choices but many of us can unanimously agree that the more choices we have, the better. Simply put, the former stems from fear whereas the latter gives us more freedom. That can be said for Blue Dragon Cafe. We had the chance to try out the food there and the first thing that caught our attention was the huge array of dishes being served there. What started as a Thai restaurant soon evolved to one that serves Asian and Western cuisines too. Each with their unique draw and exquisite taste.
The very first dish we must mention here is the Petai Rice. Yes, many can argue that petai is somewhat of an acquired taste but we cannot recommend this dish enough. Not only is it also perfect for vegetarians, the combination of fried mushrooms, eggs and petai here is simply irresistible. If you are looking to try out a new dish, this should definitely be on top of your list! We have not seen anything like it.
Ok maybe petai is not your thing. How about salted egg? The above image is the Homemade Claypot Salted Egg & Century Egg. If you think the name is a mouthful, wait until you order this. Let’s just say, it will not be just words that are filling your mouth for once you dig in, you just cannot stop. Who would have thought that the rich taste of salted egg paste can go so well with the pungent and creamy yolks of century eggs. Another must try!
Next off is the Herbal Chicken. Now, we don’t normally recommend a dish like this but this one is worth the mention. The chicken was soaked well in herbs and tastes really tender. Usually, herbal dishes would taste too acrid and overpowering but in Blue Dragon, they got it just right. Flavorful with the right amount of sweetness.
Of course, we cannot end the feast at the restaurant without their signature Thai food. If there is one place that does Thai Steam Fish justice, it would be this restaurant. It was obvious that great effort was made to ensure that the ingredients are fresh. The Barramundi or Siakap we had was succulent and cooked to perfection. The broth in which the fish was cooked in had just the right amount of spice and sufficiently sour. Definitely something you need to try for yourself.
