This epic world-class concert was held on 29th June 2019, with an all-Malaysian multi-racial blend of talented artistes performing Malay, Chinese and English songs. Additionally, four young talented students from Teach for Malaysia (TFM) were chosen to be a part of the concert! In collaboration with Teach for Malaysia (TFM), the four carefully selected students, aged 15 to 18, were given a once-in-a-lifetime experience of a six-month Masterclass & Mentorship programme with Dennis Lau and Fara Dolhadi where they were trained and prepared for The Chosen Concert.

They performed the song ‘Esok’ on stage together with a group of well-known artists such as Dewi Seriestha, Namewee, Aisyah Aziz, Lee Elaine and Fara Dolhadi. This amazing and meaningful song was personally composed by Dennis Lau and it talks about seizing opportunities in life as well as encourages youngsters from underprivileged backgrounds to chase their dreams. The students truly delivered the meaning of the song on stage, promoting limitless opportunities, love, peace and equality.

The instrument is indeed part of a musician’s body. At this extraordinary concert, Dennis Lau also unveiled his latest customised violin: ‘THE CHOSEN’. For Dennis, the violins are tools to express himself as a musician. “It reaches my goals of showcasing the energy, hope and dreams of every song I play for the audience.”, shared Dennis. THE CHOSEN violin was designed by a renowned luthier, Alistair Hay, who is also the designer of Dennis’ previous violins - the Phoenix and the Dragon violins. THE CHOSEN violin is sleek and slim. It could even fit into a whisky case! Not to mention, it is carved in the shape of a teardrop. Its body is made from carbon fibre, making it the lightest and most transportable of Dennis’ three most prized violins.
