Andrew Lee, The Illusionist
The Epitome of Magic
By Wy Yee Chan
Magic and illusion are somewhat on the opposite ends of a spectrum. However, a good illusion will be able to spellbind and enthral audience, leaving them with a truly magical feeling. This is exactly what illusionist Andrew Lee has done and was even lauded by Simon Cowell as one of the most atrocious personalities around.
Andrew is a nutritionist graduate who left his job as a sales manager to pursue his passion in becoming an illusionist. He took the leap of faith after losing everything to a fire that has burned down his house. He lost everything but that didn’t break him. He got back on his feet and with nothing to lose, he went all out to become an illusionist that will not only impress but touch lives. Thereafter, he decided to join Asia’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent which soared his career high into the skies.
For Andrew, performing a trick on stage is more than what the audience see, it encompasses the core of human connection; emotions. Every time he performs, he not only wants to impress his audience, he wants to inspire them. To engage them emotionally in a way that not only intrigues them but to embark them on a magical journey that enables them to see things from a different perspective.
Living in this 21st century, Andrew thinks that there is an abundance of resources available to us and we should be opportunists and pursue our dreams. He also encourages us to take charge of our lives and to make the best of what we have. He lives by the principle of always improving as he believes that the only thing constant in life is change and that even if we think that we have limited resources, we should never give up but instead continue to try as limitation forces creativity. He believes that when we are passionate about what we do, we should reach for the stars and hope for the best. Just like magic, things will happen at the right time, right place and for the right reason.
Moving forward, he plans to travel all around the world to spread his magic as far as he can. In fact, his next big event is London’s New Year’s Day Parade (LNYDP). LNYDP is Europe’s biggest parade and he is definitely one of the strongest acts among the 77 performers. So if you are there, don’t miss out!
